CSC2 was founded by Chris Smith — an information security specialist with 18 years’ experience across military, defence, and corporate environments.
Chris spent nearly a decade in the Royal Air Force, delivering information assurance in high-risk environments around the world.
He then became a Principal Assessor for a global certification body, auditing businesses against international security standards.
Next came a role as Principal Security Lead for a defence contractor, followed by consultancy on national-level security projects.
He’s worked as an auditor, a consultant, and a client — so he understands compliance from every angle.

He’s a keen advocate for clear communication and enjoys making complex topics easier to understand through regular blog articles, training sessions, and public speaking.
Outside the office
When he’s not guiding clients through audits or certification prep, Chris enjoys Masters Rugby League, coaching his daughters under 8s rugby team, following the Wigan Warriors, and spending time with his wife and daughter.
